YOUNG ARTIST EXHIBITION 2018

EUKARYOTE 1F, 2F, 3F

Information

EUKARYOTE is proud to announce that it is planning to hold an exhibition, with the primary objective of supporting young talent, which offers the opportunity for art students from across the country to have their artwork presented to the public as well as foster interaction with art lovers, including art collectors.
Their artwork, which expresses the passion unique to students with their rich individuality, will be gathered together in a group exhibition.
We hope you will look forward to our upcoming YOUNG ARTIST EXHIBITION 2018.

We currently have a group exhibition over three floors of our gallery with four talented artists, YOSHIDA Hiroaki, HORI Chikai, TAOKA Naho, and SUGAHARA Gensho.

Sugahara imitates an atmospheric feeling of “now” which transitions through the forms of young people, who lack any identity, while Yoshida connects ancient sculptures to futuristic human bodies as a study of feasible/past feasible futures.

With her process of creating singular planar art pieces erupting from images, Taoka incorporates illustrations to arithmetically explore the border lines of paintings, Hori whose work perhaps has the same origin, is an artist of images which the painting itself seems to produce.

As they were all born from the early to mid-1990s, and can be said to be of the digital native generation, it may be difficult to pick out at first glance what these four artists have in common which connects their interests and creative outlets.

However, by trying to connect separate common points and following after what their fascinating eyes see, a vast and wide new reality emerges.

MORE EXHIBITION

EUKARYOTE is an art space which has been established in Jingumae, Tokyo, in 2018. Within the concept of something more than an occurrence of art, there is an ever spinning contemporary coin of tangibility and intangibility, and it is this essence, this universal value held by artworks and artists, which is actively accepted but left behind.
