Information

EUKARYOTE is pleased to announce Group Exhibition, “Do not start by “Because it’s a GAL” whatsoever. A hasty GAL should stop if they are going to respect a GAL.”, through March 14th to April 5th.

“Do not start by “Because it’s a GAL” whatsoever. A hasty GAL should stop if they are going to respect a GAL.” is the group exhibition of two artists, Mitsumasa Kadota and Saya Aokabi. Since graduating master course at Tokyo Zokei University, Mitsumasa Kadota has continued to produce abstract paintings with vivid colour. Saya Aokabi, who is graduated from the same university at this year, produces paintings that have the 1990s Japanese anime character motif.
In organizing a group exhibition of these artists who have different generations, themes, and styles of painting, we regarded exchange opinions on the creating, selecting and layout of works as important. As many painters in history have been, the act of drawing lays the foundation for their identity. Two artists from different backgrounds are guided by arts and get together in this exhibition is an opportunity to explore the possibilities of paintings.

In this exhibition, Mitsumasa Kadota will exhibit his new works. Through his solo exhibition in New York last year, his expression of emotion and freshness has been refined. On the other hand Saya Aokabi, she will exhibit new works that are demolished and reconstructed Cel animation girls. She also attempts to incorporate new colours and shapes into the paintings.

MORE EXHIBITION

EUKARYOTE is an art space which has been established in Jingumae, Tokyo, in 2018. Within the concept of something more than an occurrence of art, there is an ever spinning contemporary coin of tangibility and intangibility, and it is this essence, this universal value held by artworks and artists, which is actively accepted but left behind.
